Your membership in the SVMA determines the path your Museum takes and how far down the path we can go. Paying membership dues helps to offset costs for office supplies and the required fees to operate the SVMA.
Starting a Museum is an involved, but satisfying undertaking. We depend on the labor and specialized skills of our members to complete each phase of our Museum's development. Active volunteers are the backbone of your Museum. Our volunteers host the Museum during business hours or even after hours for a Museum program or a special event in town. Labor is often needed as we are still remodeling/restoring a portion of our facility. It is our volunteers that provide this labor.
Our membership is small, but it is growing. Several of our members are part-time Sumpter residents and volunteer when they are in town.
As a member, you will have the opportunity to work hard on nearly anything from exhibits construction and installation to some serious nail pounding. There is, of course, a great amount of satisfaction and pride in seeing your Museum develop as each phase of a project is completed.
